2003 Update Archive

12/17/03 - Just thought I'd pop in to put up some new stuff... a fantastic shot of the upcoming Maximo vs. The Army of Zin toys from the Mid-Ohio-Con from PrimeOp, screenshots of the European release of Capcom Generation 2 from Andreas Persson, and screenshots of Arthur to Astaroth no Nazomakaimura: Incredible Toons - unfortunately I lost the email from the person that sent me those, so if you're reading this, drop me a line so you can be credited. All of these can be found in their respective sections, of course, except for the Maximo toy pic which is in Miscellaneous.

Also, there's a hilarious flash cartoon series called Strategy Guide, which is about an alien named Guido and his reviews of classic NES games... that he's not very good at. In the second episode, Ghosts 'N Goblins is the target, and... well, that's all I can say. Go to the official Strategy Guide site here, or if that doesn't work, Digital Press has the episodes mirrored here. If you're not familiar with Strategy Guide, though, I suggest you start with the first episode, Gradius (which had me falling out of my chair with laughter the first time I saw it, being a huge Gradius fan), and then move on to G'NG.

12/14/03 - Some of the artwork for the upcoming Ghouls 'N Ghosts Online Zero has been added in the Artwork section.

- Steve

12/09/03 - Game Factory Entertainment Studios is beginning beta testing of Ghouls 'N Ghosts Online. Check this article on Gamespot for more details.

- Steve

11/26/03 - Added a correction in the Trivia section concerning Red Arremer as a playable character in SNK Vs. Capcom: Chaos. Also added are his various attacks in the game, both courtesy of Dead Gokua.

- Steve

11/19/03 - More updates are planned soon. The next major update should be in the Maximo: Ghosts To Glory section. I am currently looking to get a hold of ending screenshots, specifically the ending FMV and the credits, which includes the mocked up 2D Maximo that plays during it. Any help aquiring these would be appreciated and of course, you'll receieve full credit for them as well.

- Steve

11/13/03 - Due to circumstances beyond my control, I can no longer update my sites or even go online like I want to. Therefore, as of today, all of my sites - including this one - are on a semi-permanent hiatus. I myself will be virtually absent from the net from now on as well. I will still answer emails from time to time, but as far as any major updates to this or any of my other sites are concerned, don't expect any. It is my hope that I will be able to get my sites back up and running full speed at some point - but don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. However, please enjoy my past work and feel free to comment on it - just don't expect an immediate reply if you do. Of course, Steve may decide to post an update during this time, so the site may not be completely without new updates.

Thanks to all of you who have visited this site; you have my most sincere gratitude.

- Rob

10/8/03 - Due to circumstances beyond my control, the Emulation section has been taken offline. It will make its return at some point - exact ETA unknown.

- Rob

9/21/03 - In the trivia section, there is a new screen shot of the Red Arremer/Firebrand from SNK vs. Capcom: Chaos that seems to imply he might in fact be a playable character after all...

- Steve

9/18/03 - There's a new piece of official SNK Vs. Capcom: Chaos artwork in the Artwork section.

- Rob

9/4/03 - I've added some new Maximo Vs. The Army Of Zin art to the Artwork section (thanks to Lonewolf), and links to the Maximo Vs. The Army Of Zin toys page, as well as a link to info on the upcoming Maximo comic book to the Miscellaneous section (also thanks to Lonewolf). On top of that, John-Paul Palacio is back with an essay on the differences between the U.S. and Japanese versions of Gargoyle's Quest, which can be found in the Games section.

- Rob

8/30/03 - Added some great new Maximo Vs. The Army Of Zin art to the Artwork section (thanks to PrimeOp), and added the Adventure Quiz Capcom World Red Ariima screenshot translation to the Trivia section (courtesy of CheapAlert). You may have also noticed that the Trivia page has been split in two now... there was simply too much trivia for only one page, so it made sense to split it up.

- Rob

8/24/03 - Check out the Revive Firebrand petition!

- Rob

8/20/03 - Added a link to CheapAlert's excellent GQ/DC discussion board Firebrand Community!

- Rob

8/19/03 - Another small update, but first I'd like to apologize for being abscent as co-webby these so many months. I added news regarding new Maximo toys in the Miscellaneous section courtesy of Brian. These toys are from the first game and not from "Army Of Zin", which in case you didn't know is being delayed until Spring or Summer of next year. Might as well add that little tidbit of news in as well.

- Steve

8/10/03 - Small update this time, just a new bit in the Trivia section about Firebrand's appearance in the arcade game Adventure Quiz Capcom World.

- Rob

7/26/03 - Even more new stuff in the Trivia section! Check out an interesting looking fan made game called Makaimura Exceed, and see who's making an appearance in the latest SNK fighting game! Also we've joined the Console Database WebRing! Check it out at the bottom of the main page.

- Rob

7/20/03 - I've added two more shots of Hebi Island from Higemaru Makaijima to the Trivia section, courtesy of klez.

- Rob

7/4/03 - I've added two screenshots from the SNES Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts prototype to the Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts section, courtesy of Juan Carlos.

- Rob

7/3/03 - I'm a father - again! Check out my personal site zero signal for more details.

- Rob

6/4/03 - Remember the aborted Retro FX remake of Ghosts 'N Goblins? I just found out that as of 1/23/03, the Retro FX website has gone back up! Don't get your hopes up, though - the site is back up strictly for posterity, not as an attempt to jumpstart the project. It's still an interesting site to browse through, so if you want to check it out, click here, and take a look at the G'NG remake that sadly was never to be...

- Rob

6/3/03 - I've added three new pieces of fanart - two new pics of Phalanx from Sara Jones, and our first submission from V-Alis - the sorceress Sephonie from Maximo, as well as a link to the Italian site Ghost World!

- Rob

6/1/03 - Thanks to Skrybe's NES Prototype Page, a new Ghosts 'N Goblins reference has surfaced - this time in the Famicom game Higemaru Makaijima. Learn more about it in the Trivia section, and download the ROM for the game in the Emulation section (and get the password to take you right to the G'NG section of the game).

- Rob

5/12/03 - E3 is just around the corner (and so is a certain highly anticipated movie... Something called Matrix Reloaded which I managed to get tickets to...) which means we should be hearing more information regarding the various games. Although Ghouls 'N Ghosts Online and Match Fight are absent from Capcom's E3 line-up, Maximo is still in full force. I've added some new E3 preshow info regarding Maximo 2 in the Games section, courtesy of Gamespot.

- Steve

4/29/03 - There's a link to a new Gargoyle's Quest site - Infinity - in the Links section! The webmaster of Infinity, Esteban, has also donated several animated GQ/DC gifs, which can be downloaded in the new Animation section of Miscellaneous.

- Rob

4/22/03 - Thanks to Lonewolf, we now have screenshots of Maximo Vs. The Army Of Zin! Check them out in their respective section of The Games.

- Rob

4/19/03 - The Maximo Vs. The Army Of Zin section has been updated which includes the story and more features. Sorry about the lack of screenshots still, however.

- Steve

4/17/03 - More big news has hit regarding the series. Game Informer has just released new information regarding the upcoming Maximo 2 along with some screenshots. Unfortunately, I am without a scanner but as soon as pics of the game are available, I will post them. In the meantime, check out the Games section for some of the juicy details on this upcoming game.

- Steve

4/15/03 - The Ghoul Realm is back up and running! Due to the fact that I'm not going to have as much time as I usually would to update the site, I've accepted an offer of help. Welcome Steve, the new co-webmaster of The Ghoul Realm! Together we'll be working to keep this the premier G'NG site online! This marks a new beginning for The Ghoul Realm - so stay tuned to see what happens here next! In fact, look for sections on both of the upcoming G'NG games - Ghosts 'N Goblins Online and Ghouls 'N Ghosts Match Fight - soon, courtesy of Steve! He can be reached at ghoulsworld@yahoo.com if you have any questions for him.

Oh, and today my site The OPCFG celebrates its fifth anniversary online! Stop by if you get a chance and see what's new!

- Rob

3/14/03 - I had some free time, so I decided to add pics that Moroz sent me of the ZX Spectrum version of Ghouls 'N Ghosts to the Ghouls 'N Ghosts section of The Games. Other than that, the site is still on hiatus, as I don't know exactly when I'll be in a position to start regularly updating again. Until then, the notice on the main page still stands.

1/20/03 - Daimera sent me a cool pic - an official Maximo Christmas card! Find it in the Artwork section. More than likely this will be the last update the site gets for quite some time. Despite the fact that my net access does not get shut down for the next two and a half days, I seriously doubt I'll be recieving any new G'NG or GQ info during that time, so I've decided to just go ahead and put the site on hiatus now. I'd just like to take the opportunity to thank everyone for visiting over the past year (ironically, the site turns one year old on January 22nd - the day I lose my net access), and I hope to see you all again - preferably sooner than later. Until then, everyone...

1/15/03 - If anyone has read my personal site zero signal lately, then you've heard the news. If not, here's what's going on - as of next Wednesday morning, all of my sites are going on hiatus, due to my family and I moving to Georgia. I'll be losing my internet connection and I don't know when I'll have it back. I'll find a way to get online for the OPCFG's fifth anniversary in April, though. In the meantime before we move, I'm trying to make a little extra cash. I have several auctions on eBay currently - if you'd like to check them out, go here.

1/6/03 - I'm back, although possibly not for long. Check out my personal site zero signal for more info.
