Also, I have to admit I don't know where my head's been at lately. Almost a month ago now (9/24/02, to be exact) Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts for the GameBoy Advance was released here in the U.S.! For those of you interested in getting a copy (a very good idea, btw), you can order it directly from Capcom here (listed price $29.95) or from Electronics Boutique here (listed price $29.99). Your local videogame dealers should either be able to get it or may already have it, if you don't feel like going the online route.

10/16/02 - Sara's sent in another new piece of artwork and the front cover to Gargoyle's Quest. There's also a new link to a new Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts site run by VLAD. Check it out!

10/15/02 - There's a new piece of artwork from Sara in the Artwork section, plus she also provided a picture of the back cover of the U.S. Gargoyle's Quest.

10/7/02 - Steve's come through with part one of his ongoing series "Ghosts 'N Goblins - Home Computer Versions"! Check it out in the Ghosts 'N Goblins section of The Games. Believe me, if you don't know much about the Commodore 64 version of Ghosts 'N Goblins, you'll find it to be a very interesting read. Hell, it's an interesting read whichever way you slice it. ^_~ Thanks Steve!

Oh, and this is very important - if anyone reading this has been able to get either the Amiga or PC versions of Ghosts 'N Goblins working on an emulator, please send Steve an email and let him know how you did it.

Also, Sara's donated an animated .gif of General Arma, which can be found in the Demon's Crest section.

8/30/02 - There's a bunch of new Demon's Crest stuff - new artwork and a whole bunch of new screenshots, courtesy of Amitrius17!

Also, Francisco is creating a 3-D game based on Demon's Crest. If anyone would like to help him that has any experience with programming or creating graphics - or if you would just like to contribute to the project in any way - email him at firebrand_2001@yahoo.com.mx.

7/17/02 - Sara's struck again with more Demon's Crest fanart! Her renditions of the Holothurian boss, the Ovnunu boss and the floating Gargoyle's Head can be found with her other artwork in the Artwork section. I've also added a new item to the Trivia section.

7/2/02 - Pete Wilson was nice enough to let me know about a site that has arcade ringtones for Nokia phones - including several G'NG ringtones! Check out the Miscellaneous section for the link.

6/20/02 - Ghosts 'N Goblins is Classicgaming.com's Game of the Week! Click here to read the review. Also, Capcom has released worldwide sales figures for their most popular series. As it turns out, sales for all 10 games in the G'NG series come to 3.8 million dollars total! Not bad... not bad at all. To see the list, go here and scroll down until you reach it. Thanks to John Paul Palacio and the Megaman Outpost for that bit of info.

6/10/02 - Thanks to Steven J. Minar, new news on the Retro FX Studios remake of Ghosts 'N Goblins has surfaced. Unfortunately, it's not good news. Check the Ghosts 'N Goblins section of Games for more details.

6/7/02 - I've added a new bit of trivia concerning some Ghosts 'N Goblins homages in the Capcom arcade game Black Tiger. Check the Trivia section for more details.

5/31/02 - I've added new pics of Chohmakaimura R - including an absolutely gorgeous piece of art! Check it out in the Games section.

5/22/02 - John Paul Palacio has come through again, this time with a complete list - and pictures! - of every bonus item from the arcade Ghosts 'N Goblins (not the various statues, but the hard to find bonus items). Check them out in the Ghosts 'N Goblins section. Thanks John!

5/15/02 - There's not much of an update this time, but a cool fellow by the name of John Paul Palacio sent me info about an interesting difference between the Japanese and American Ghosts 'N Goblins arcade game. You can read about this in the Ghosts 'N Goblins section. Also, Knuckle was nice enough to send me even more screenshots of Gargoyle's Quest II for GameBoy.

5/13/02 - I've added magazine ads for both Gargoyle's Quest and Maximo, as well as screenshots from an old issue of EGM of a prototype version of Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts, all from my personal magazine collection (thanks to Patrick for scanning them for me). They can all be found in their respective sections.

5/11/02 - Thanks to Knuckle, I now have pics of the elusive GameBoy version of Gargoyle's Quest II (find them in the Gargoyle's Quest II section), and thanks to TJ Rappel of the Metroid Database, I have pictures of the box, manual and cart for Demon's Blazon (the Japanese version of Demon's Crest), which can be found in the Demon's Crest section.

5/9/02 - Fran Fan has come through yet again, this time with news of a Ghouls 'N Ghosts version of Visual Pinball, entitled Ghouls, Ghosts & Goblins! To check out what it looks like and find out how to download it, head to the Miscellaneous section.

4/30/02 - Thanks to Johnny Undaunted, we now have pics of Chohmakaimura R! Check the brand new section devoted to the game in the Games section!

4/25/02 - Fran Fan has come through again, with a tip that Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts is going to be released for the Gameboy Advance later this year! There's no pics yet, but I'm assuming that it's going to be near identical to the SNES version. Here's some info on the Japanese version from Famitsu:

Title: Chohmakaimura R
Release Date: July 19 (in Japan)
Price: 4800 Yen

Feature: Complete port of SFC version + Extra
Mode: Normal mode, Arrange Mode

Here's some more info on it from Gaming Age.com:

With the recent success of Maximo on the PS2, Capcom is going to deliver a version of their popular Ghouls & Ghosts (Ghost & Goblins) to the Game Boy Advance later this year. It's unclear at this point if it will be an all new adventure or a port of the SNES classic, but word is that it's shaping up nicely and could be ready for release as early as August. 2D Ghouls & Ghosts action! Life doesn't get much better than this.

Capcom was unavailable at press time for comment, but you can bet it will be on display at E3. We'll do our best to dig up more information as soon as possible.

The game can be preordered at GameStop.com (who have it listed as Super Ghosts 'N Goblins) by clicking here. Thanks again, Fran Fan!

4/22/02 - Thanks to Steve Halfpenny, I finally have a screenshot of the Amiga version of Ghosts 'N Goblins. Based on looks alone, this may have been the best conversion of the original G'NG arcade game. Steve may be contributing a writeup on the Amiga game soon as well, but until then you can take a look at the screenshot in the Games section, under Ghosts 'N Goblins.

4/19/02 - Whew. Sorry about taking so long to update, but to speak of there's been no new news - until now. Fran Fan recently clued me in to Capcom's upcoming project - Maximo 2! Here's the latest on it, from Computer and Video Games.com:

MAXIMO 2 CONFIRMED FOR PS2!

Knights of the round table rejoice! Oh, they're all dead. Bugger. Anyway, it has. Been confirmed, that is.

Capcom US has confirmed that a sequel to the excellent Maximo is already in the works for PS2. The sequel will follow in the footsteps of the original, offering an intense arcade-action experience in the spirit of Capcom's much loved classic of yore, Ghouls 'n' Ghosts.

Details at this stage are understandably scarce, but what we do know is that the Grim Reaper from Maximo is set to return in an enlarged role, although what that means precisely is unclear at this juncture. We're also promised more variety in gameplay and an improved camera system - which was one of the main flaws in the original.

For now, that's all we know, but you can bet your bottom dollar, pound, or - begrudgingly - euro on there being a ruck more info at E3. Keep 'em peeled.

-- Johnny Minkley

Excellent news, indeed! Thanks for the tip, Fran Fan! Rumor has it (keep in mind, these are unconfirmed rumors) that an unlockable 2-D version of Maximo will be in the game, and our favorite knight, Sir Arthur, will show up as well! Be sure to check back here for more updates as more info becomes available.

Also, before I forget again, the band The Minibosses - who had previously been mentioned on The Castlevania Dungeon for their excellent versions of some of the BGMs from Castlevania - have also done a couple of songs from Ghosts 'N Goblins. Check out the Miscellaneous section for direct links to download them!

3/13/02 - Thanks to geelw, I now have nice, clear coverscans of Nazomakaimura, as well as a little info on how the game plays. He should be sending me some actual screenshots of the game soon, too! Thanks!

3/4/02 - Jason's provided me with pictures of some more Maximo promo items, all of which can be found in the Miscellaneous section.

3/3/02 - The Maximo section has finally been filled out. Jason Manthey was nice enough to loan me the instruction manual to the game, so I'd like to thank him for that. Thanks, Jason! I've also added the link to GameFAQ's Maximo walkthrough in the Walkthroughs section.

3/2/02 - I've added more info to the Trivia section, including new bits from Dain Gore, and a link to a hilarious Ghouls 'N Ghosts parody from Randy Solem of Video Game Director's Cuts. Also, I've added a link to Dain's page in the Links section... he's got an idea for a Ghouls followup called Ghasts 'N Ghouls which is quite entertaining to browse through. He's got a lot of great ideas there (take notice, Capcom). Check it out!

2/26/02 - Rene L. Gonzalez Berrios is one cool guy. He's let me use whatever images and such that I don't have from his site, The Ghosts 'N Goblins Series Online (a site well worth checking out, I might add), for The Ghoul Realm. As a result, the Characters section has been fleshed out quite a bit, with nearly complete character listings for Ghosts 'N Goblins, Ghouls 'N Ghosts and Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts. I've also put a link up to a site that has all of the characters from Demon's Crest, plus I've added the Potions and Spells that Firebrand uses to the Demon's Crest section.

2/25/02 - Thanks to The Arcade Flyer Archive, I've added arcade flyers for the arcade versions of Ghosts 'N Goblins and Ghouls 'N Ghosts to the Artwork section. I've also added a new bit of Trivia from Johnny Undaunted concerning a Japanese Makaimura Play Model Kit (!), and two new links from Rene L. Gonzalez Berrios, creator of two fantastic sites - The Ghosts 'N Goblins Series Online and The Commando Series Online! Check them out!

2/21/02 - I've added a piece of fanfiction in the Miscellaneous section, written by me, entitled Demon's Crest: Firebrand's Musings. Check it out and let me know what you think of it.

2/18/02 - I've added some new trivia (thanks to Johnny Undaunted of The Nekketsu Typhoon), some pics of Arthur's appearance in Marvel vs. Capcom in the Trivia section, and a new link for Swan Song, where I got my info on Makaimura for WonderSwan - which coincidentally, since it's an all-new game in the series, has been given it's own section.

2/14/02 - Yeah, I know I said there would be no more updates for a while, but I just had to come back and add all of the new stuff that I've gathered recently! There's a bunch of new trivia in the Trivia section, including the Red Destroyer and Lucifer cards from SNK Vs. Capcom: Card Fighter's Clash, some new Artwork, some sweet Maximo promos in the Miscellaneous section, new cover scans of the Supergrafx Ghouls 'N Ghosts, a link to a French G'NG site, the story for Gargoyle's Quest, and info on a G'NG puzzle game, called Nazomakaimura (which can be found in the Games section)! There's also quite a few more new things added here and there. Enjoy!

2/6/02 - I've added some more Cannon Spike pics, plus a bunch of new stuff to the other sections, including some shots of the Supergrafx and Commodore 64 versions of Ghouls 'N Ghosts, the cover of the Sega Master System and Supergrafx versions of Ghouls 'N Ghosts, and better cover pics of the Wonderswan Ghosts 'N Goblins box (courtesy of Otaku.com).

IMPORTANT NOTICE - Due to circumstances beyond my control, I will be leaving the net for the foreseeable future. Don't expect to see updates on any of my sites for a while - zero signal, The OPCFG, West Mansion or The Ghoul Realm due to these circumstances. I apologize for this, but I promise I will return when I am able. So please, carry on and enjoy the site... and remember - I'll be back.

2/4/02 - I've added a bit about Arthur's appearance in the Dreamcast game Cannon Spike to the Trivia section.

1/30/02 - I've added the Weapons and items for Gargoyle's Quest II, thanks to the Old School Gamer.

1/29/02 - I've got a whole bunch of great new stuff thanks to Yashiro! Among other things, he's helped fill out the Trivia section with several new pieces of info, given me several cart scans (for Ghosts 'N Goblins [NES], Ghouls 'N Ghosts [Genesis], and Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts [SNES]), a magazine ad for Gargoyle's Quest II, and the ending to the NES Ghosts 'N Goblins.

Also, Patrick Morris has come through again with another great logo! Previously he'd designed the logos for my personal site, zero signal, my message board, The Third Moon, and my Splatterhouse site, West Mansion: The Splatterhouse Homepage. Now there's a great logo for The Ghoul Realm, as I'm sure you've seen already. Thanks Patrick! For more examples of his work, stop by his site, The Inferno.

1/27/02 - I've added reviews for both Ghosts 'N Goblins and Gargoyle's Quest that were submitted by Yashiro Nanakase. I've also added the items for Ghosts 'N Goblins, the story, weapons, items and stages for Ghouls 'N Ghosts and Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts, some artwork and the story for Maximo from the official site, and a sweet picture of Firebrand to the Demon's Crest section.

I've received offers for some more items from various people, so hopefully I'll have even more stuff up soon.

1/24/02 - I've added screenshots for all of the games (including new shots of the Gameboy Color, Commodore 64, Sinclair Spectrum and the Retro FX remake of Ghosts 'N Goblins, plus the Sharp X68000 version of Ghouls 'N Ghosts), and cover shots for several of the games. I also put up several links to different G'NG related walkthroughs, some trivia, and started the Characters section - plus I've added a boatload of links in the Links section.

For the most part, the Ghosts 'N Goblins and Demon's Crest sections are open, so feel free to visit them. The other sections are progressing nicely - and thanks to Flying Omelette for sending me the Ghosts 'N Goblins NES instruction manual.

1/22/02 - The Ghoul Realm was first brought online.
